Former No. 1 Minnesota Recruit Jaxon Howard (LSU) is Coming Home to Gophers, PJ Fleck.
The Minnesota Gophers have secured one of their largest transfer portal pledges of the portal era in former Robbinsdale Cooper wonder Jaxon Howard (EDGE), who enrolled as a true freshman at LSU for the class of 2023 and entered the portal on Monday. Jaxon should instantly challenge for a starting position on the EDGE this fall. He could have been buried on the LSU depth chart, but this isn’t Baton Rouge.
Howard is likely to play alongside rush end Danny Striggow starting in 2024. Minnesota lacks proven depth behind the senior from Orono, so Howard should be able to provide some snaps alongside Striggow this fall. Minnesota Gophers sign Jaxon

Howard?
We’re not sure how good Jaxon Howard is or will be. But there is no denying his brilliance. The son of Minnesota football icon Willie Howard, the previous No. 1 overall recruit in the state of Minnesota (2023), is a 94-Overall 4-Star monster who now stands 6’4″ and weighs 241 pounds, according to the LSU Football website. Since the end of the previous season, more than 1,000 Division I football players have accessed the portal. Howard is rated as a 4-star (92-overall) transfer portal player by 247Sports, making him the 10th best EDGE in the portal nationally and the 72nd-best overall transfer portal entrant in the country.
