Isaac Rex, a former BYU tight end, joins the Detroit Lions
SALT LAKE CITY: After the 2024 NFL Draft, former BYU Cougars tight end Isaac Rex signed a free agent contract with the Detroit Lions. He comes into an NFC title game-bound Lions club that finished 12-5 in 2023. Concerning Isaac Rex Rex was the top receiver in the playoffs and helped San Clemente High School win the California state championship during his final year of high school. After serving a two-year church mission in Samoa, he came to BYU in 2019. Rex only participated in three games in 2019 and had one 23-yard reception. Rex made 12 appearances in the 2020 season, catching 37 passes for 429 yards and 12 touchdowns. Rex participated in 12 games the next year and finished with 18 receptions for 191 yards and three touchdowns. He sustained an injury that ended his season during the Cougars’ match against USC.
