Lions: Did They Do Enough? Brad Holmes Evaluates the NFL Draft of 2024
Entering the 2024 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions were in a very favorable situation. Detroit’s personnel department was able to target players on its draft board that not only fit needs but also met the qualifications to join a squad full of seasoned veterans after addressing a number of needs in free agency. An early analysis of Detroit’s six selections reveals a balance between guys who can contend for starting jobs right away and young players who can spend the next season learning from experienced NFL players.
General manager Brad Holmes reaffirmed that each player on the roster needs to compete for their chance to play when questioned about the overall draft. “Man, a lot of these people, they play if they earn a position on the roster where we are at. They don’t if they don’t, according to Holmes. “You notice that we truly enjoy these corners when you glance at them. They are novices. They should get a berth, I don’t know, because Carlton Davis has been a reliable starter. Emmanuel Mosley is a proven starter when healthy. Amik Robertson is one of those decent guys who has made plays and proven to be a starter.
