Report: “Further Injury Woes for Liverpool’s 27-Year-Old Attacker with 19 Goals/Assists”

An attacker for Liverpool, aged 27 and with 19G/A, has suffered a further injury setback.

With Diogo Jota sidelined for two weeks with an injury, Liverpool’s title chances took a blow. Jota gave the Reds a 3-1 lead over Fulham on Sunday and sealed the victory with the third goal of the game in the second half at Craven Cottage. After that, the Portuguese international got hurt, and he won’t be able to play in tomorrow’s Merseyside derby against Everton. He won’t be available for the pivotal final games against Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United. At today’s press conference, manager Jurgen Klopp responded, via the LFC website, to a question concerning new injury concerns with the words, “Unfortunately, yeah.” After Diogo scored the goal and felt a little, we now know that he felt a little bit more. He’ll be absent for a fortnight. Apart from it,

There are no [new injury concerns]. Jota made his first start in more than two months against Fulham. His knee issue kept him out of commission, but this time it’s his hip. For the Reds, Jota will be a huge loss, particularly at this pivotal point in the season when the team needs all of its attackers to be playing at their best. Ryan Gravenberch’s second goal for Liverpool versus Fulham was their first in nearly 400 minutes of play during open play. The Merseysiders lost to Crystal Palace in the Premier League title match despite having numerous opportunities to win the tie, largely due to their carelessness in front of goal.

Before his protracted absence, Jota had made 32 appearances, scoring 15 goals and dishing out four assists. When the Reds faced the Cottagers, he came back and gave them what they were lacking. When they visit Goodison Park, Klopp might be forced to rely on out-of-form forwards Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah, who both started the Fulham game from the bench.
