Report: Yankees’ Prospects (Early on) Miami Marlins as a trading partner

Yankees’ Prospects (Early on) Miami Marlins as a trading partner

A team that appeared to be turning things around made the playoffs the previous season, had a wealth of excellent pitchers, and although the offense was never really strong, it might have been sufficient to return to October. And suddenly everything isn’t working. Kim Ng left the team after the brass decided not to promote her to president of baseball operations, and the Fish now sit last in the NL East with a 0.4 percent chance of winning the pennant. And over the weekend, we saw the first indications that former Rays general manager and new baseball operations chief Peter Bendix might be cutting the organization down to the bone: two-time hitting champion Luis Arraez, the centerpiece of a prior Pablo López was traded to the Padres in exchange for three prospects in a deal under Ng with the Twins. Though perhaps AJ Preller simply needed a little encouragement from the Padres, it’s surprising that the Marlins pulled the bait on the player who was hitting so quickly.311, who had opened the scoring in each and every game this season, may be a sign that they are already accepting orders. I think teams hold off on signing deals for too long since they won’t get as many games out of frequently rented players if they wait until deadline day. Even still, May 3rd is early in my opinion. However, if the Marlins are in business, perhaps the Yankees ought to give them a call to fill in some of the roster openings. The Marlins’ young but poor roster is the problem. The rentals are usually the most obvious candidates for a trade, and in this instance it would be Tim Anderson and Josh Bell. Although Bell doesn’t fit on the roster, I believe he would benefit from a move to Yankee Stadium, a ballpark that definitely plays up left-handed power. Initially, Anthony Rizzo is solidly established, and DJ LeMahieu will eventually make his injury comeback. It’s difficult to understand where Bell fits in because even Oswaldo Cabrera has played first base, and Giancarlo Stanton won’t be sitting down as the DH on a regular basis.
