As “CEO of Football,” Michael Edwards has rejoined the team to support the overall goal. It’s easy to forget that it was labeled the same thing last summer. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho were among the prominent players that left, and Liverpool virtually rebuilt their midfield. Eleven players left the team permanently, and four others joined; all of the newcomers were central midfielders. While Wataru Endō, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch have all had their moments, albeit to varying degrees, Alexis Mac Allister has been phenomenal.
