Jarell Quansah, a defender for Liverpool, is about to ink a new contract with the team.

Journalist Ben Jacobs of GIVEMESPORT reports that Jarell Quansah, a defender for Liverpool, is anticipated to ink a new contract with the team. The 21-year-old is hoping to sign a long-term contract with Anfield after having a breakthrough season with the senior team and winning Jurgen Klopp’s trust. The center-back will be included in Arne Slot’s plans for the forthcoming campaign, as Liverpool looks to bolster their defense in the approaching transfer window. Only last year did Quansah sign a new contract with Liverpool, but his performance this year has impressed the team, and after a full year, he will get another raise.

Liverpool Wants Quansah “To Reward”

Quansah, a graduate of the Liverpool academy, debuted with the first squad this season. The 21-year-old scored his first league goal for the team in Monday night’s 3-3 draw against Aston Villa. He has played in 16 Premier League games thus far, 11 of them as a starter. The center back emerged as a consistent member of the first squad during the second half of the season, filling in for more experienced players like Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk. Micah Richards called him a “excellent” player.

Matip is expected to go from Liverpool.

Matip, whose current contract is about to expire, will depart Liverpool at the end of the current campaign.

Due to an injury he received in December of last year, the 32-year-old Cameroonian has most likely already played his final game for the Reds. Over his 201 appearances at Anfield, Matip has 11 goals scored. In 2016, he moved from Schalke to Liverpool on a free transfer. During his time there, the Reds won the Premier League and the Champions League.

Recent reports indicate that the Cameroonian player, whose contract is expiring, may be considering a move to Italy or Turkey this summer, potentially leaving Liverpool with another void in the center-back position in the coming months.

Last week, GIVEMESPORT suggested that Joe Gomez is also contemplating a departure from Liverpool in search of a fresh challenge.

Despite being a crucial player for Klopp throughout his tenure, Gomez has struggled to secure a regular starting position at Anfield. As he enters his prime years, departing Liverpool could be a possibility if he aims to secure consistent playing time in the latter part of his career.

Gomez joined Liverpool from Charlton in 2015, making his first-team debut at just 18 years old. Over nine seasons with the club, he has featured in 224 matches but has yet to find the net for the Reds.
