Juan Soto of the Yankees Signing an Extension Is a “Major Long Shot,” Per Report

When the New York Yankees acquired Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres in a seven-player trade, it was one of the greatest splashes of the offseason. In the upcoming offseason, Soto will become a free agent for the first time in his career. Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner has expressed interest in signing Soto to an extraordinary extension. But according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, an in-season extension is a “big long shot.” Heyman stated, “I believe it’s a tremendous long shot, and I think the Yankees recognize this,” on May 22 during a live broadcast of Bleacher Report. “Hal Steinbrenner is not to blame for taking a chance and stating, ‘We want to sign him and get it done in season.'”
