Reports suggest that Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in Dean Huijsen and may compete for his signature in the future. Huijsen, a 19-year-old defender, progressed through Malaga’s academy before joining Juventus U17s in July 2021. He recently debuted for Juventus’ first team in October and then moved to Roma in January to gain more senior experience.
At Roma, Huijsen made an impact with 14 appearances, two goals, and one assist. He also displayed versatility by playing in central midfield when needed. The Amsterdam-born player, representing Spain U21s internationally, impressed Roma’s former manager Jose Mourinho.
Newcastle United also showed interest in Huijsen, but Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham have expressed their admiration for his development in Italy and have requested updates on his availability. Considering Huijsen’s age and limited top-level experience, with only 14 Serie A appearances, he likely wouldn’t immediately secure a starting spot in a Premier League club. However, Mourinho has forecasted that Huijsen could develop into an elite defender as he matures. Consequently, it might be worthwhile for Manchester United, Liverpool, or Spurs to pursue a deal for him.
