Today’s edition of O Jogo (see press image below) indicates that Liverpool is closely monitoring the 19-year-old.

Besides Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich are also keen on acquiring the young midfield talent.

The report states that Liverpool and other Premier League clubs are leading the race to sign Neves. Liverpool Leading Race to Sign Benfica’s Joao Neves Amid Intense Competition

Liverpool is reportedly leading the race to sign Joao Neves, a highly sought-after midfielder from Benfica, valued at £102.3 million. After signing Endo last summer to bolster the defensive midfield, Liverpool found he was not a sufficient replacement for Fabinho. With Endo approaching 32, the club is now looking for a long-term solution.

According to O Jogo, Liverpool is showing significant interest in the 19-year-old Neves, who has drawn attention from several top clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich. Despite this competition, Premier League clubs, particularly Manchester United, are making strong bids.

Neves played in the Champions League with Benfica last season and would continue in the competition if he remains with the club. However, Manchester United cannot offer him Champions League football, which could influence his decision.

Benfica prefers to keep Neves for another season but would consider selling if his £102.3 million release clause is met. Liverpool previously missed out on Jude Bellingham due to financial constraints but may need to make a substantial investment to secure Neves, regarded as one of the best young midfield talents in the world.
