Euro Paper Talk: Liverpool’s £80m double deal progresses with Edwards ‘intensifying’ pursuit of Argentine star; Brighton player reveals dream of joining Man City

Liverpool are nearing the signings of players from Serie A and the Primeira Liga, while a Brighton forward has expressed his desire to join Manchester City. Meanwhile, Chelsea is targeting a Paris Saint-Germain star.

LIVERPOOL EYE DOUBLE SIGNIN

Liverpool have received a significant boost in their pursuit of Juventus’ Federico Chiesa and have reportedly intensified their efforts to sign an Argentine star. Chiesa has been linked to Liverpool for some time as the club looks to bolster their attack and prepare for the potential departure of Mo Salah.

Despite staying at Juventus so far, new reports from Italy suggest contract talks have stalled, making Chiesa’s move this summer more likely. Juventus has reduced his price tag from over £50 million to €25 million (£21 million) to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Liverpool is also targeting 22-year-old Porto midfielder Alan Varela. According to journalist Eduardo Burgos, Liverpool executives Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes have intensified their interest in Varela, who is also on Arsenal and Newcastle United’s radar. Varela’s release clause is €70 million (£60 million), but Liverpool aims to negotiate a lower fee.

The potential double signing of Chiesa and Varela could cost Liverpool £81 million, although they hope to reduce Varela’s price.
