The Green Bay Packers have successfully met nearly all their offseason objectives. They started by dismissing embattled defensive coordinator Joe Barry and bringing in Jeff Hafley from Boston College as his replacement. Venturing into free agency, they secured top safety Xavier McKinney and premier running back Josh Jacobs.

In addition, the Packers bolstered their offensive line and safety positions through the 2024 NFL Draft. They also addressed injury concerns by sending frequently injured players Christian Watson and Eric Stokes to the University of Wisconsin in Madison to investigate their recurring hamstring issues.

The team had to make difficult decisions as well, releasing popular players left tackle David Bakhtiari and running back Aaron Jones, both of whom were fan favorites and effective when healthy.

The final task remaining is to extend quarterback Jordan Love’s contract. After an impressive debut season, it was widely anticipated that Love would receive a new deal before the 2024 season.

The primary question is now his compensation. Initially, estimates placed his salary between $46-48 million per year, but Jared Goff’s $53 million per year extension with the Detroit Lions has led to predictions that Love might earn over $50 million annually.
