NBA players from abroad competing in the 2024 Olympics in Paris

Luka Doncic failed to take his native Slovenia to the 2024 Summer Olympics, less than a month after failing to lead the Dallas Mavericks to their second NBA title. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Greece defeated Doncic and Slovenia in the semifinals of the Olympic qualification event held in Piraeus, Greece. The two NBA stars faced each other for the first time while playing for their respective senior national teams in this matchup. The Milwaukee Bucks’ Antetokounmpo, a two-time NBA MVP and 2021 NBA champion, qualified for his first Olympic Games.

Many of the NBA’s other talented foreign players will be in Paris during the Summer Games, hoping to defeat the highly fancied US men’s national team, even if Doncic won’t be there. The NBA players from other countries that have qualified for the 2024 Summer Games are shown here. Twelve countries in all will be able to compete in the men’s Olympic basketball competition.
