11 Chinese tennis players will participate in the U.S. Open singles competition.

A total of 11 players from mainland China will compete in the singles events at the U.S. Open, which begins on August 26 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York City.

In the men’s singles, Zhang Zhizhen and Shang Juncheng will represent China. Zhang has reached the first round in all three Grand Slam tournaments this year, including the third round at the French Open. He also advanced to the third round at the 2023 U.S. Open.

Shang Juncheng has competed in all three Grand Slams in 2024, reaching the third round at the Australian Open. This will be his debut at the U.S. Open.

The nine Chinese women competing at the U.S. Open this year are Zheng Qinwen, Wang Xinyu, Zhu Lin, Wang Yafan, Wang Xiyu, Zheng Saisai, Wang Qiang, Zhang Shuai, and Yuan Yue.

Global No. 7 The player with the highest ranking in the group is Zheng. She struggled at the French Open and Wimbledon Championships, but she made it to the Australian Open final this year. Her best U.S. Open result came in 2023 when she made it to the quarterfinals. Wang Xinyu has had a successful 2024, reaching the Wimbledon and French Open round of 16 respectively. At the U.S. Open the previous year, she also advanced to the round of 16. In the 2023 U.S. Open, Zhu Lin and Wang Yafan proceeded to the third and second rounds, respectively. Yuan Yue, who is scheduled to make her debut in New York this summer, did not participate in the U.S. Open last year together with Wang Xiyu, Zheng Saisai, Wang Qiang, Zhang Shuai, and Wang Qiang.
