The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) is set to provide a £5 million boost to Judy Murray’s recently opened flagship tennis and sports centre at Dunblane. The LTA announced that it would finance the Park of Keir facility, which is intended to develop into a center of excellence for Scottish tennis events. Under the direction of Ms. Murray, a former Scottish national coach, the project will include a multi-sport facility with pickleball, indoor and outdoor padel, tennis, and multi-sport halls, as well as a multi-use games area, gym, and cafe.In addition to the coaching program headed by the mother of tennis champions Andy and Jamie Murray, the location will serve as a hub for competition and player development to promote increased involvement in sports and foster
The Dunblane-born Murray family’s accomplishments and their impact on Scottish tennis will also be honored in the facility. Following his withdrawal from the singles draw due to a back surgery he had just a few days prior, Andy Murray participated in the men’s doubles at Wimbledon earlier this month in what is most likely going to be his final match. Following the match, Ms. Murray announced that her son had turned down offers to become the face of tennis academies across the globe, stating that he preferred to mentor young people in Scotland.
