Too Little, Too Late The Texas Rangers offense finally came alive in the ninth inning, putting the game-winning run on base, but ultimately


lost 8–7 after trailing by five runs. After the Texas Rangers launched a late rally to win 8-7 on Sunday at Yankee Stadium to take the series, the New York Yankees established a five-run lead and managed to hold onto it. In the sixth inning, the Rangers scored a run. Leody Taveras grounded out to end the game with the tying run at third base after two in the seventh and three more in the eighth.

After three runs in the eighth, home runs by Carson Kelly and Nathaniel Lowe brought Texas within two. Before Adolis García hit an RBI single in the ninth, Wyatt Langford and Lowe both walked with two outs. Pinch-runner Ezequiel Duran was at third and García was at second when Taveras grounded out to second to end the game. Andrew Heaney allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks in 4 2/3 innings. With two outs and two on in the fifth, Jose Leclerc relieved Heaney and allowed a three-run homer to Giancarlo Stanton to give the Yankees a 5-0 lead.
