Breaking Fulham confirm sign in a £26 million contract now

Diego Carlos is expected to start the season in the defense for Aston Villa, according to manager Unai Emery, amid rumors that the defender would be leaving the West Midlands. Throughout the summer, a number of Saudi Arabian clubs and Italian powerhouse AC Milan have expressed interest in signing the 31-year-old. However, Aston Villa’s Premier League rivals Fulham have shown the most serious interest in the player, having rejected their initial offer for the Brazilian earlier this month.

The Athletic stated at the beginning of the summer that Aston Villa would consider selling Carlos in order to address any possible concerns with sustainability and profit. However, Villa are no longer in a haste to sell the seasoned defender after the sales of a number of players, including Douglas Luiz, Moussa Diaby, and most recently Cameron Archer. Before Aston Villa’s matchup with West Ham, Emery stated in an interview with The Athletic that “Diego Carlos is entirely with us now.” Yes, we were open to hearing his thoughts and had considered the possibility that he may leave if he received a better offer from another club.
