Breaking: Fulham transfer news: Midfielder bid expected after £20m rejection

Fulham is rumored to be making a third and better offer for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay. The Scotland international, who the Cottagers have identified as the perfect successor for Joao Palhinha, is rumored to have already had two bids rejected by the Red Devils. Following their failure with that attempt earlier this month, the Cottagers turned their focus to other prospects. Fulham’s second bid for McTominay was reportedly in the neighborhood of £20 million. As reported over the weekend by their sporting director Giovanni Manna, Serie A powerhouse Napoli has entered the hunt to recruit McTominay, following Man United’s rejection of Silva’s team. Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports News reports that Fulham has swiftly reignited their interest, though.

Sheth said that Fulham and Man United have resumed talks over a transfer, and if things go well with Erik ten Hag’s team, the Cottagers will make a better offer. It was said that Fulham was not willing to make another attempt until Manchester United showed signs of agreeing to lower their asking price, which was reportedly close to £30 million. Given that McTominay is in the final 12 months of his contract, the Red Devils run the risk of losing him for nothing in 2025. However, the team has the option to initiate a one-year extension to preserve McTominay’s value. But if a long-term extension is not anticipated, Man United may very well exercise his contract option in January, as they frequently have.
