The Giants ran for 54 yards on the ground in the first quarter alone, overwhelming the Jets defense early on. As sluggish as the Jets offense was, wide receiver Brandon Smith made another impressive catch, this time taking Andrew Peasley’s 39-yard ball on a play that looked to go out of bounds. Smith succeeded in getting both feet down on the circus catch, according to a referee assessment. With the victory, the Jets finish the preseason with a 3-0 record, cut their roster to 53, and prepare for Monday Night Football’s season opener against the San Francisco 49ers.
