Hull City sign a major big contract and it’s made many to gather to see

Hull City signs Bayer Leverkusen’s champion player to complete a huge transfer coup.

Tim Walter’s team has added Gustavo Puerta, 21, from German champions Bayer Leverkusen. The young midfielder, who was at the MKM Stadium on Saturday to watch the goalless draw with Millwall, had been linked to a £3 million move to Brondby earlier in the transfer window, as well as Scottish outfit Rangers. However, City, eager to bolster their midfield ranks this summer following the departures of Tyler, have resisted interest in signing Puerta.

Puerta captained the Colombian Under-20 team that placed third in the South American Under-20 Championship in 2023. After joining Leverkusen in January of last year, Puerta left the BayArena to join FC Nuremberg. However, he returned to be a regular member of Alonso’s squad, even though he struggled for playing time, appearing in 28 of Bayer’s 34 league games. Puerta was limited to just seven Bundesliga appearances for Xabi Alonso’s team last season and three appearances in the Europa League. Additionally, he did not get off the bench in any of their knockout games until the loss to Atalanta in the Dublin final. After joining the likes of Anthony Racioppi, Cody Drameh, Fin Burns, Charlie Hughes, Liam Millar, and Marvin Mehlem in moving to East Yorkshire this summer, Puerta’s arrival—his eleventh of the summer so far—is seen as another crucial piece of the puzzle in providing Walter with a squad capable of playing in his demanding system.
