Done Deal: Hull city tigers Qualified for the new deal

A Hull City player has identified a crucial strategy used by Daniel Farke’s Leeds United that they are unable to tolerate.

Given the circumstances surrounding the departures he had to supervise, Leeds United manager Daniel Farke will be thrilled with how his team has begun the season. The high stakes of the Elland Road match at the beginning of April the previous season, when promotion was up for grabs for both teams, were nothing near as high for a home match against Hull City this early in the season. But it was also Leeds’ opportunity to make sure they concluded their August schedule with a stronger record than they had in 23/24. During the first sixty minutes, Illan Meslier’s center stop from a strong Chris Bedia drive was the only serious test for either goalie.

But Manor Solomon, the primary offensive threat in the game, produced a brilliant moment that opened the scoring when he surged down the left and clipped a beautiful ball to the near post, where Mateo Joseph cleverly attacked to see him miss the mark. As the Tigers attempted to find a way to draw even, Junior Firpo intercepted the ball, was let free by Joseph down the left, and struck Joel Piroe with a first-time switch. The Dutchman finished the game with ease, winning 2-0.

Farke’s management of Leeds has mostly been attributed to the team’s ability to counterpress the opposition in their own half and generate opportunities through a well-organized structure when the ball is out of control. Leeds broke the tie in a controlled possession, but their intense pressure in the first half caused immense difficulties for the central trio of Sean McLoughlin, Alfie Jones, and goalkeeper Ivor Pandur. They were unable to advance the ball past Leeds’ aggressive attackers, relying mostly on Ryan Giles and Lewie Coyle to get out of their own end. Jones made the following post-match comment (via the YEP):
