AFLW Nissan Injury Update: ( Trio is back in) Three players face tests to prove their fit to play 

 

Update on AFLW Nissan injuries: Trio plans to return This weekend in Adelaide, three players will put their fitness to the test.

Aine McDonagh, Emily Bates, and Kristy Stratton, the Hawthorn trio, will all undergo fitness tests to ascertain their availability before taking against the Crows on Sunday. Bates was a late scratch because of calf tightness, McDonagh suffered a wrist injury late in the Hawks’ Week 2 victory over Collingwood, and Kristy Stratton recovered from her preseason hamstring strain. In addition to providing an update on the players that are being considered for a return, AFLW High Performance Manager Aaron Kellett also provided information regarding Casey Sherriff’s ankle injury sustained late in the game against the Pies.

Yes, it was a horrific situation for Casey; she became twisted up after getting her leg entangled beneath a few bodies. She unfortunately suffered a high grade ankle fracture with some syndesmosis involvement in addition to a fibular fracture. She is therefore undergoing surgical fixation of that bone today, and depending on the results, we still think she could be able to play football later in the home and away season. Everything is progressing well, but there is still information to be learned from that. This was another one that was quite fortunate in many ways.
