Report: Liverpool now keen to sign £60,000-a-week star who terrorised Trent

Since Liverpool is entering a new chapter, there’s more potential than ever for the unexpected to happen during the transfer window, including what might be one of the most surprise moves of the summer in terms of

 Liverpool transfer news.

There’s no denying that things are hectic at Anfield right now, with Arne Slot’s arrival and the arrangements for Jurgen Klopp’s departure balancing out. After Michael Edwards’ return, FSG reportedly made more changes off the field, including the appointment of Julian Ward as the team’s new technical director.

FSG has put together a magnificent team, and they will be hoping that even without Klopp, this group can take Liverpool to even greater heights of success. Additionally, this club is said to be capable of pulling off one of the summer’s biggest surprises. Liverpool is eager to buy Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United this summer in a move that would be worth at least £100 million, according to The Daily Star via The Express. Actually a lifelong Liverpool supporter, Gordon joined the Magpies in 2023 after leaving Everton, but he might now strike the Toffees another blow by finalizing his potential dream transfer to Anfield.

The Reds, Trent Alexander-Arnold in particular, are well aware of Gordon’s abilities. Gordon’s goal against Liverpool at St. James’ Park earlier this season was the result of a mistake made by the right-back. However, Darwin Nunez’s late double saved Klopp’s team and dramatically sealed the points. Gordon, however, more than held his ground in spite of the outcome. “Fearless” Gordon might take Diaz’s place. Gordon, who is only 23 years old, has already more than lived up to the rumored £60k weekly salary he received at Newcastle this season, and he is fast emerging as Eddie Howe’s main man.

But even before his current stint, legendary Magpies player Alan Shearer was praising the winger, saying via Chronicle Live: “A young youngster who has been causing quite a bit of excitement is Anthony Gordon.” Despite the Toffees’ difficult season, the winger has demonstrated talent and enthusiasm, and Everton supporters have rallied around him.

At the beginning of their new period, Liverpool will need a lot of that kind of mentality, and if Gordon joins Anfield, he might even challenge Luis Diaz for a starting spot. Gordon will undoubtedly be someone to watch as the transfer window draws near, particularly if Liverpool intensifies their desire to pull off a surprise acquisition.
