Update: Liverpool offers Newcastle a £100 million alternative as they deal a blow to Arsenal in their pursuit of Alexander Isak.

Due to reports that Liverpool is “eyeing a £100 million move” for one of Alexander Isak’s Newcastle colleagues, the Reds may hinder Arsenal’s efforts to capture the player this summer. Isak was acquired by Newcastle in the summer of 2022 for a club-record cost of over £63 million from La Liga team Real Sociedad. Since then, he has scored 29 goals in 48 Premier League games for the Magpies, proving to be a brilliant acquisition.

Isak is Mikel Arteta’s true love.

PIF, which is financed by Saudi Arabia, has made significant investments since assuming control of Newcastle and has plenty of cash on hand, but they are now having problems with financial fair play. They will reportedly need to sell at least one of their most valuable assets this summer, according to numerous reports, and Isak and Bruno Guimaraes are both receiving positive looks.

“Isak is at the top of Arsenal’s list of striking targets for the summer, as Mikel Arteta is now set on getting the attacker that will complete his team,” The Independent blasted last week. It is stated that Isak’s chances of leaving Newcastle “may hinge on if he agitates to go” because they are “extremely reluctant” to letting him go.

Liverpool provides an alternative to FFP.

Given that Gordon would represent the more profitable trade, Newcastle would be more inclined to let go of him in the wake of news that Arsenal is willing to pay a comparable amount for Isak. Although Gordon appears to be enjoying his stay at St. James’ Park, it’s unclear if he would accept a bid from Liverpool. However, the report does mention that Gordon has been a lifelong Liverpool fan since he was a member of their youth system before moving to Everton at the age of 11.
