Tom Cairney of Fulham acknowledges that he went through a “mental” moment this season while playing Liverpool at Anfield.

Once again, Liverpool had some memorable matches at Anfield during the 2023/24 season. Unfortunately, a defeat to Crystal Palace in April dashed their hopes of an undefeated home campaign. Nonetheless, there were still standout games, showcasing Anfield as a formidable venue for Jurgen Klopp’s team. One particular match that stands out is the December clash against Fulham, where Liverpool secured a thrilling 4-3 victory. Despite twice relinquishing leads, Liverpool found themselves trailing 3-2 to Fulham with just 10 minutes remaining. However, they mounted a comeback, equalizing through Wataru Endo’s strike in the 87th minute, before Trent Alexander-Arnold netted the winner moments later, sparking jubilation among the fans. According to Fulham’s Tom Cairney, who entered the game as a substitute in the 62nd minute and provided an assist for Bobby Reid’s goal, the atmosphere at Anfield was unlike any other he had experienced on the pitch. Cairney, with his extensive experience at clubs like Hull, Blackburn, and Fulham, is a seasoned professional.
