Detroit native Sam Richardson discusses the Lions and the city in the limelight for the NFL Draft.
Detroit (WXYZ) — The NFL Draft in Detroit this week is attracting attention from across the world, including celebrities such as Detroit’s own Sam Richardson. Richardson recently starred in Pure Michigan commercials emphasizing his favorite Detroit staples ahead of the draft. Richardson told me how he feels about Detroit’s draft picks and how he hopes the nation would perceive Detroit. “I’m so excited for the draft to see who we get because we’re such a strong team and I’m excited to see what moves the organization with Brad Holmes’ picks,” Richardson said. “I’ll say this directly to Detroiters: we’re all armchair experts who always say, ‘What we need is’ — trust them.” “They understand what they require.”

I asked Richardson the following question: “What do you hope the country sees when all eyes are on Detroit for the draft?” “I hope the country realizes they’ve made a mistake in making Detroit anything other than a major city of America over the years, and that the city is a true symbol of America and its potential. It is unquestionably one of the best cities in America and the world,” Richardson added.
