Deal for a Liverpool center-back is now a “Huge Priority”

According to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, Liverpool is making it a top priority to secure a new center-back in the upcoming summer transfer window. With manager Jurgen Klopp departing, his successor Arne Slot will be monitoring the market for defenders. While Liverpool currently has Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate as solid starters, they may need backup, especially with Joel Matip’s contract ending and Joe Gomez possibly leaving. Despite the emergence of youngster Jarell Quansah, Liverpool aims to bring in an experienced defender. Sheth suggests that Klopp’s development of young players could benefit Slot, but reinforcements are likely needed. Additionally, Liverpool is eyeing Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville as a potential addition, especially amid uncertainty over Mohamed Salah’s future.
