A report indicates that Liverpool is looking to acquire versatile forward Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

The Reds are entering a new era after the departure of club legend Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down as manager following a highly successful nine-year tenure. Liverpool have appointed Feyenoord’s Arne Slot as their new head coach, aligning with a revamped football structure. Transfer activities will be overseen by FSG’s CEO of football Michael Edwards and the club’s new sporting director Richard Hughes.

According to L’Equipe, Liverpool and Newcastle United have already shown interest in Mbeumo. In an interview with the same outlet, Mbeumo expressed openness to leaving Brentford, stating his desire to compete for top honors. “I’ve spent five seasons at Brentford, a club that helped me grow. But yes, I want to play in the biggest competitions with the best clubs,” he said.

Mbeumo, whose contract runs until 2026 with an option for an additional year, has scored 50 goals and provided 42 assists in 200 appearances since joining Brentford in 2019, making him one of the Premier League’s top forwards outside the traditional ‘big six.’

When asked about areas for improvement, Mbeumo said, “I need to improve in one-on-one situations and be more decisive in my actions. I also know the importance of extra training. I’ve set up programs with a sports coach and use a virtual reality program to enhance my cognitive abilities. You have to be prepared for the coming seasons.”
