Liverpool are poised to finally complete their three-year pursuit of the £34m-rated Italian star.

Liverpool are reportedly leading the race to sign Juventus star Federico Chiesa, three years after initially showing interest in the Italian. The club first eyed the winger in 2021 when he was in the second year of his loan from Fiorentina to Juventus. Chiesa’s impressive performance at Euro 2020 boosted his profile, but he preferred to stay in Serie A. Now, after Juventus activated his £34m purchase option, Chiesa has once again been linked to Liverpool. With his contract expiring in 2025, reports indicate Liverpool are at the forefront of the competition to sign him, although Napoli, Roma, AC Milan, and Bayern Munich are also interested.

If forward Mohamed Salah were to depart, Liverpool would likely seek a replacement, and the dynamic and speedy Federico Chiesa could be an ideal candidate. Juventus might be eager to secure a substantial fee for Chiesa, having posted losses of £80.7 million in the first half of the 2023/24 fiscal year, exacerbated by their ban from European football. The Serie A club faced an accounting scandal in late 2022 related to player transfers and salary payments, resulting in their exclusion from European competitions for the 2023/24 season. This sets up an intriguing summer for Juventus, Liverpool, and Chiesa.
