Liverpool’s £100 million dual transfer deal is advancing swiftly as Edwards intensifies efforts to secure the Argentine superstar

Liverpool’s £100 million dual deal is gaining momentum as Edwards ramps up efforts to secure the Argentine sensation, while a Brighton player expresses aspirations of joining Manchester City.

Liverpool’s pursuit of new signings from Serie A and the Primeira Liga is advancing, with reports indicating that the club’s sporting director, Michael Edwards, is intensifying his efforts to secure an Argentine star.

Simultaneously, a Brighton forward has voiced his desire to play for Manchester City. In other news, Chelsea is reportedly eyeing a player from Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool’s hopes of acquiring Juventus’ Federico Chiesa have received a significant boost as the Reds reportedly intensify their pursuit of the talented winger.

Chiesa, a versatile player capable of operating on either wing or as a center-forward, has been a long-standing target for Liverpool as they seek to strengthen their attacking options amid uncertainties surrounding Mo Salah’s future.

Despite previous speculation, Chiesa has remained at Juventus, where the club has been engaged in contract negotiations to secure his future and dispel any rumors of his departure. However, recent reports from Italy suggest that talks have stalled, increasing the likelihood of Chiesa departing this summer.

Liverpool, seizing the opportunity presented by Juventus lowering their asking price for Chiesa to €25 million (£21 million) from over £50 million, aims to strike a favorable deal for the 26-year-old Italian, providing both financial savings and midfield enhancement.

Additionally, Liverpool has initiated discussions with Porto regarding the acquisition of Alan Varela, a promising 22-year-old midfielder. Renowned journalist Eduardo Burgos reports that Liverpool executives Edwards and Hughes have intensified their interest in Varela, who is also attracting attention from Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Varela’s versatility as a No 6 or No 8 has further fueled Liverpool’s determination to secure his signature ahead of their Premier League rivals, despite his current release clause of €70 million (£60 million) with Porto. This presents the possibility of Liverpool acquiring both Varela and Chiesa in a combined deal worth £81 million, pending negotiations with Porto to lower the asking price for Varela.

In other transfer news, Chelsea eyes PSG winger Ousmane Dembele, Galatasaray expresses interest in Tottenham Hotspur full-back Emerson Royal, and Barcelona and Bayern Munich eye Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes. Additionally, Saudi club Al-Nassr considers a €150 million bid to pair Fernandes with his Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
