Following Virgil Van Dijk’s evaluation, Liverpool “immediately started working” on a £25 million move.

Liverpool is reportedly interested in signing Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz. The Turkish forward scored seven goals and made 12 assists in all competitions last season, helping Galatasaray win the league title, reach the Europa League knockout playoff round, and advance to the Turkish Cup quarter-finals.

According to Turkish publication Milliyet, the 24-year-old’s performances for Turkey at Euro 2024 have caught the attention of Liverpool. Although Yilmaz did not score at the Euros, he helped Turkey reach the quarter-finals, where they were defeated 2-1 by the Netherlands.

Liverpool was reportedly impressed by Yilmaz’s performance against the Dutch and have started working to secure a deal for him. Yilmaz is under contract with Galatasaray until 2027 and is valued at €30 million (£25 million).

Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk praised Yilmaz after the match, noting his relentless running and the difficulty he posed for defenders. Besides Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have also shown interest in Yilmaz, but Liverpool’s qualification for the Champions League might give them an advantage in signing him.
