Following the less than impressive 15-12 preseason victory over the Carolina Panthers in Week 2 of the exhibition schedule, I half-jokingly considered selecting Jets fans as one of my winners. This fan base should be acknowledged in some way for attending that game. I believe it is important to keep in mind the true purpose of preseason during moments such as this. These days, the main focus of the activity is determining who will compete for the remaining practice squad and roster positions. Giving low level players real game reps is another goal; once the real games begin, these will be few and far between. Considering that I’m not positive the Jets know exactly what they want Stiggers to become, the latter could be crucial. Safety, slot corner, and outside corner have all been examining him. He was placed outside for the plays in space, but tackling is an important part at the final two positions. I felt like today was productive, but we’ll have to wait and see what all of this means.
