DONE DEAL : ESPN Mock Draft has blockbuster Giants-Patriots 1st-round trade on the way & ….

Even though the 2024 season hasn’t even begun, people like Field Yates of ESPN have managed to make us excited about April of the next year. Yates has released his first NFL Mock Draft of the cycle, and it will undoubtedly cause some controversy among NY Giants supporters. Yates believes the New England Patriots will select first overall in his mock draft. Yates believes, nevertheless, that general manager Schoen will be willing to go to great lengths in order to move up and acquire a Daniel Jones successor. Carson Beck, a standout player for Georgia, will end up being that player.

The Giants choose Carson Beck with the first overall pick in ESPN’s mock draft. “It is safe to assume that the Giants would be in the quarterback market if they end the season with a record worthy of the sixth pick, given Daniel Jones has no guaranteed money remaining on his contract after this one. Beck, who was my class’s first QB1, is a superb pocket thrower who stands 6-foot-4 and has adequate mobility to move both inside and outside the pocket. He just wrapped up a season in which he ranked fourth in completion percentage (72.4%) and third in passing yards (3,941) among FBS players.”

According to Yates, the Giants will have the No. 6 pick, which they would then send to New England in exchange for the top pick. Maybe adding a 2025 second-round pick and a 2026 first-round pick will be sufficient to finish the job? It’s possible that Jones is starting his last campaign in East Rutherford, but who knows? If Jones is unable to play above expectations this season, the Giants will have an out, and Schoen will be prepared to accept it. Not many in East Rutherford are optimistic that he can play well in ’24 after his two-interception performance in the team’s recent loss to the Texans. Should he experience difficulties once again,

Next offseason, Schoen and company will undoubtedly cut him and focus entirely on a new quarterback of the future. The Giants were huge admirers of Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels, so it was something that was being worked on this offseason. Reports surfaced on draft night that NY was attempting to trade with NE in order to acquire Maye. That did not transpire, as the Pats selected the former UNC standout. But by the time of the next draft, Schoen might be prepared to persuade New England to close some deals, and Beck might be someone he targets.
