Previous Sheffield Goalie for Birmingham City and Hull City accepts temporary management position on Wednesday

David Stockdale, a former goalie for Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City, has been appointed interim manager of non-league team Blyth Spartans. Blyth is a football team that plays in the seventh tier of the English football ladder, the Northern Premier League Premier Division. In May, they made a striking choice when they gave former Premier League midfielder Nolberto Solano the reins. But Solano’s job was cut after the team opened the season without a victory. For the time being, Stockdale, who served as Solano’s assistant, has taken his place. “Blyth Spartans can confirm that they have agreed to part ways with Nolberto Solano,” the non-league team said in a statement. The team would like to formally thank Nobby for his contributions throughout his time at Spartans.

In 2023, Stockdale left the EFL after being let go by Sheffield Wednesday. He had been a member of the Owls team that achieved a remarkable promotion from League One through the play-offs.In an attempt to sign Stockdale, York City moved to bring him on board as head of recruitment as well as a player. But in April of this year, the veteran departed from the Minstermen. Despite being called up to the England squad, Stockdale—a stopper with a wealth of experience—was unable to secure his first cap. Among his previous clubs are Brighton & Hove Albion, Birmingham City, and Rotherham United.
