Exclusive: Liam Cooper’s relocation to Hull City falls down

According to Football Insider, Liam Cooper’s planned free transfer to Hull City has fallen through. All sides were eager to move forward and the talks with the 32-year-old had evolved to a point where an agreement could not be reached. The deal is now off, although the defender was in owner Ali Acun Ilicali’s box at the MKM Stadium for the 0-0 draw against Millwall. Because of this, the center-back is still available to sign for free, and a number of Championship teams are rumored to be interested in doing so. Cooper is a free agent, thus any agreement does not need to be finalized before Friday, August 30, 11:59 p.m. Star defender Jacob Greaves left Hull to sign with Ipswich Town earlier in the transfer window, and before the window closes, they’re trying to bolster in his place. Liam Cooper’s signing with Hull City collapses following extensive negotiations Cooper began his career at Hull after passing through their academy system, and he has now been at Leeds for ten years, having joined in 2014.

In 2008, at the age of sixteen, he made his senior debut for the Tigers. However, he only played for the team for 17 games before leaving. The defender returned to Yorkshire from Chesterfield and went on to make 284 appearances in his ten-year tenure at Elland Road. He assisted the team in returning to the Premier League in 2020 during that time, but they were demoted once more in 2023. Despite being the club captain, he played just 19 times under Farke’s direction last time out, and his impact on the field started to wane.
